The police service commission has approved the promotion of 1670 senior police officers to their next rank and has also approved the appointment of 147 other officers to various different ranks.
A statement signed by the spokesperson on the PSC Ikechukwu Ani state the decision to promote the officers came from the very top.
The commission's approval was conveyed to the inspector general of police, Mr Solomon Arase on friday june 3rd 2016, Ani said.
Part of the statement stated that a commissioner of police was was elevated to the rank of AIG, 10 assistant commissioners were promoted to Deputy Commissioners, along with 5 CSPs to ACP and 6 SPs to CSPs, while 4 DSP to SP and 1540 inspectors to ASPs.
Ani further noted that noted that the acting appointments are 3 DCP, 5 ACP, 4 CSPs, 3 SPs, 5 DSPs and 127 ASP. The approval and acting appointments take immediate effect.
The chairman of the commission, Sir Mike Okiro, a retired inspector general of police urged the affected officers to reciprocate the commission's good gesture by redoubling their efforts to the service of the nation.
